FedEx St. Jude Championship embraces the dog days of summer with Humane Society of Memphis and Streetdog Foundation

MEMPHIS, Tennessee – With the FedEx St. Jude Championship approaching, the tournament has dedicated its efforts to helping the furry, four-legged residents of Memphis find homes before the event returns to TPC Southwind, August 14-18. To accomplish this, the FedEx St. Jude Championship will waive adoption fees for all dogs adopted from June 25-29 at the Humane Society of Memphis and Shelby County and sponsor a “Dog of the Week” with the Streetdog Foundation.

“We are thrilled that we can do this for our canine friends here in the Mid-South, thank you to the Memphis Humane Society and Streetdog Foundation for including us in this incredible opportunity. Let’s find these dogs a place to call home!” said Joe Tomek, Executive Director of the FedEx St. Jude Championship.

Free dog adoptions will take place at the Humane Society of Memphis and Shelby County (935 Farm Rd, Memphis, TN) from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday, June 25 through Friday, June 28, and 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday, June 29. Adoption applications should be completed in advance, although walk-ins are accepted. Additionally, all adopted dogs will go home with a custom FedEx St. Jude Championship-themed bandana in anticipation of Memphis’ signature community event this upcoming August. “We're delighted to partner with the FedEx St. Jude Championship for this event—their support and generosity will make a significant impact and give many animals the loving home they deserve,” stated Memphis Humane Society Executive Director Ellen Zahariadis.

Streetdog Foundation “Dog of the Week”

The tournament will also be sponsoring a “Dog of the Week” with the Streetdog Foundation in the weeks leading up to the event to bring attention to the dogs available for adoption that are currently under the care of the foundation’s foster network. “This collaboration allows us to showcase our incredible street dogs and brings us one step closer to matching them with caring families. Be sure to tune into our social channels the next few weeks to let these cute dogs in their FedEx St. Jude Championship swag get you excited for the event,” remarked Melanie Daniel Pafford, co-founder of Streetdog Foundation.

The revenue from every ticket, hat, drink, etc. purchased by fans at the FedEx St. Jude Championship gets reinvested back into St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital and the community here in Memphis. The FedEx St. Jude Championship is one of the largest charitable partners in the region with $6.3 million donated to local causes in 2023 and more than $72 million since the tournament’s start in 1967.
