FedEx St. Jude Championship’s “Mutts and Putts” Campaign Covers Dog Adoption Fees this Week

PGA TOUR event partners with Humane Society of Memphis & Shelby County to help local dogs find forever homes

MEMPHIS, Tenn. – With the FedEx St. Jude Championship just weeks away from teeing off at TPC Southwind, the tournament is rallying the city—and its furry residents—in excitement for the FedExCup Playoffs with the launch of the Mutts and Putts campaign in partnership with Humane Society of Memphis & Shelby County. Through this week-long initiative, the tournament will cover adoption fees for local pups, helping them find their forever homes just in time for the August event.

“From the course to the kennels, we’re committed to making a positive impact in the Memphis community,” said Joe Tomek, Executive Director of the FedEx St. Jude Championship. “We’re incredibly grateful to the city for supporting us, and Mutts and Putts is a fun way to support the Humane Society of Memphis & Shelby County and give these deserving pups a chance to find their forever families.”

Looking for a loyal caddie? Free dog adoptions will take place at the Humane Society of Memphis and Shelby County (935 Farm Rd, Memphis, TN) starting today, through Saturday, July 19. Adoption applications should be completed in advance, although walk-ins are accepted.

Each dog adopted through the Mutts and Putts initiative will receive a custom bandana that features Memphis BBQ, along with golf-inspired details. For fans who love BBQ as much as their four-legged friends, the FedEx St. Jude Championship offers plenty of opportunities to enjoy authentic Memphis flavors. The tournament features some of the city’s best barbecue, including offerings from the iconic Commissary, known for its pulled pork, tender brisket, classic sides and barbecue nachos.

“We are delighted to partner with the FedEx St. Jude Championship for another year to find wonderful homes for more of our dogs,” said Ellen Zahariadis, Executive Director of the Humane Society of Memphis & Shelby County. “We’re so grateful for the opportunity to bring more awareness about the need for adopting animals in Memphis.”

The revenue from every ticket, hat, drink, etc., purchased by fans at the FedEx St. Jude Championship gets reinvested back into St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital and the community here in Memphis. The FedEx St. Jude Championship is one of the largest charitable partners in the region with more than $80 million since the tournament’s start in 1967.
